How do Composite Veneers work?
Composite veneers are a cosmetic dental treatment used to improve the appearance of teeth.
They are made of a tooth-coloured composite resin material that is bonded directly to the front surface of the teeth.
Composite veneers can be used to address various dental concerns, such as discolouration, chips, gaps, and uneven tooth shape.
How It Works
In most cases, minimal tooth preparation is required for composite veneers. The dentist will lightly etch the surface of the teeth to create a rough texture. This helps the veneers adhere securely to the tooth enamel.
We will help you choose the appropriate shade of composite resin that closely matches the natural colour of your teeth. This ensures a natural and seamless result. Each layer is carefully shaped and sculpted to achieve the desired tooth shape and contour. The dentist will also take into consideration your bite and alignment to ensure a proper fit.
After the veneers are bonded, we will make any necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit, comfort, and aesthetics. This may involve trimming excess material, refining the shape, or adjusting the bite as needed.

I graduated as a dentist from Queens University in Belfast in 2006. Since then I have also achieved a Master’s Degree with Merit in Restorative Dentistry at the highly regarded Eastman School of Dentistry at UCL. This was a 4-year postgraduate course in all aspects of restorative dentistry. I regularly travel to London for further courses with world-renowned dentists such as Thomas Taha and Basil Mizrahi. From this commitment to further education, I offer a minimally invasive and patient centric approach with special interest in tooth wear cases. Whether it is general dentistry or more complex restorative work you are looking for; you will benefit from the most up to date techniques. I really enjoy the benefits for the patient of working with rubber dam and adhesive dentistry to make restorations more predictable and long lasting.
I have recently returned from living and working in Australia for 2 years where I learned about new digital workflows in dentistry and will continue with this line of treatment at Creative Smiles.
In my spare time, I enjoy triathlons, CrossFit and family time in the outdoors with my wife and 2 kids.

I graduated as a dentist from Newcastle Dental School in 2012. Since then I have worked in both mixed NHS/private and private practices. I undertook further examinations in 2014 to attain Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. Alongside this, I have trained newly qualified dentists for the past 3 years and have gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education.
In 2018 I undertook the prestigious Tipton year long course gaining a Certificate in Restorative Dentistry. I am an accredited Invisalign provider and am currently working towards completing a 4 year Masters Degree in Aesthetic Dentistry at the world-renowned Kings College London. This enables me to treat complex cosmetic cases to the highest possible standard. I pride myself in my attention to detail, striving to provide high-quality care combined with a caring and empathetic approach. Outside of dentistry, I am kept very busy with my young family, my wife and I recently welcomed our second baby. I enjoy baking and watching as much rugby as I can. I am a keen skier and love the outdoors.
